Carrier Connection update!

When you click that "DONATE" button on our webpage, every dollar goes directly towards helping families #babyweartothrive. Because we believe so strongly in the direct connection between you- the donor- and our special families, we have provided you with a way to connect with them personally. Last month we introduced you to our Carrier Connection, a place where you can 'meet' our qualified families and support them directly.

Because so many of our applicants are older children and require toddler-sized ergonomic carriers, we have set up this special fundraiser just for them. These larger toddler and preschool sized carriers are expensive and difficult to obtain. We are in need of donations just so we can purchase these certain types of carriers for each of these wonderful families.

Take a look at what happens when you donate to our Lift Me Up Carrier Connection:

You fully funded our first Carrier Connection kid in just one day! Jaymee was diagnosed with Niemann-Pick Type C disease. This is a rare metabolic disease that is progressive and causes lack of coordination, slurred speech, visual problems, hearing loss, low tone, and many other significant challenges. There is no known cure or FDA approved treatment.

Jaymee is 3 years old and is not mobile. She hardly crawls, and she has never walked. Sweet little Jaymee is getting weaker every day, her mom says.

Because of you, Jaymee and her family are able to #babyweartothrive. Jaymee's mom now has an easier time grocery shopping and taking Jaymee to school and therapy appointments. Babywearing provides proper hip and spine alignment and is putting Jaymee in an ideal position to learn communicative cues from her mom.

Our next Carrier Connection kid was Mason, a sweet 4 year old boy who has many challenges in his life. He has been diagnosed with Dandy-Walker Variant, a brain malformation. Mason has seizures, microcephaly, immune deficiency, hip dysplasia, deaf blindness, profound sensory dysfunction/tactile aversion, hypothyroidism, multiple congenital anomalies, GERD, and he requires g-tube feedings.

Thanks to your donations, Mason and his family are now able to #babyweartothrive. Because of you, some of Mason’s struggles are now just a little bit easier. Being worn close to his mom is helping Mason with sensory integration and his mom tells us she is hopeful he'll make progress with some of his other therapies. Mason's mom says she loves snuggling him close now- something that was difficult for them in the past because of his IV, feeding tube, and surgeries. Being worn in an ergonomic toddler carrier is also providing Mason with the ideal hip and spine positioning to help with his hip dysplasia.

Perhaps you remember meeting Cameron, our next Carrier Connection Kid. Cameron was born at 24 weeks and was in the NICU for 7 months. She has cerebral palsy, autism, has seizures, is legally blind, and is fed via gtube. She is not able to walk unassisted, and is unable to speak. Although Cameron is 6 years old, she is developmentally about 1 year old.

Cameron has to stay on the floor or in her feeding/activity chair a lot, as it’s very difficult for mom to hold her and not have her hands free. Also, when their family is out and about, she always has to ride in a cart or stroller but she constantly reaches out for mom to hold her.

Now, because of you donating to her Carrier Connection fund, Cameron and her family will be provided with the gift of an ergonomic toddler carrier! Life for Cameron and her family will become just a little bit easier because of babywearing. Being worn in a carrier will help Cameron in many developmental areas, including sensory integration. Since Cameron is unable to communicate, being up against her mom and feeling her mom’s heartbeat will be very calming.
