How Can My Donation Help?
Lift Me Up has a clear mission. We want to give a babywearing carrier, free of charge, to every desiring family who has a child with special needs. The benefits of babywearing are staggering. But what kind of carriers does Lift Me Up give to these families? How will my donation help? What does a babywearing carrier cost?
We’re so glad you asked!
Your donation of $50 will help buy a ring sling. A ring sling is a simple one shoulder carrier that’s very easy to learn since there are no buckles or ties. It is fully adjustable and simply slips on and off of the shoulder. It can fit children from infant through toddlerhood.
Your donation of $100 will help buy a family a woven wrap. This type of carrier is great for wearing children of varying sizes. For example, a family that has a newborn and a toddler with special needs, might need a carrier that allows them to wear both children at different times. A woven wrap can be tied in various ways to support a wide age/size range. Sometimes it is necessary to wear the toddler with developmental special needs while other times it’s more helpful to wear the newborn, therefore allowing the caregiver to be hands free while assisting the older child with safety while walking, for example. A wrap is very versatile and can be a great way for a family to have just one carrier that fits multiple children.
Your donation of $150 will help buy a family a soft structured carrier that can comfortably hold a child up through the preschool stage. Soft structured carriers are especially easy to get larger children on and off in just a matter of seconds. These carriers are often desired by caregivers since they are easier to learn how to use.
Your donation of just $10 will allow us to ship any of these carriers to the family in need. How amazing is that!
Whether the diagnosis is spina bifida, cerebral palsy, speech delay, autism or sensory processing disorder (among many others!), each of these types of carriers have the potential to fulfill a need for furthering development and allow caregivers to provide a good alternative in positioning.
As you can see, donations of all sizes are gladly accepted. Without your help, none of this is possible. Remember, all donations to Lift Me Up are tax deductible as we are a 501(c)3. Ask your employer if they will match your donation! Thank you for supporting our mission to serve these families who have children with special needs.
